Various organizations worldwide are
marketing their products online and they give equal importance to marketing and
the product itself. Photos of the product should be clear and appealing. Hence,
many image manipulation techniques are applied on them.
Since these techniques require
meticulousness and hard work, organizations outsource photos of their products
to outsourcing companies.
Outsourcing companies employ graphic designers who
edit, correct and touch up photos cost-effectively.
They can either work on the
photos according to the basics of image manipulation or the customer's
requirements.
Here are some of the image manipulation
techniques used by graphic designers:
Image masking
This technique is used to
cover the parts of a photo that is blurred or damaged. Image masking is
performed to mask minuscule details on the photo that intrude the display of
the product. Image masking is used to perform such corrections. Image masking
is somewhat a pre-production work in different graphics-based production
companies. Image masking is essential in various industries including craft,
photography, real estate, banners, and flyers.
Clipping path
This technique is also
called path fixing. As the name implies, clipping path is an image manipulation
technique where a vector path is drawn around the product which is then clipped
out, leaving the other parts useless. These parts are separated from the
background which is either replaced or removed. Clipping path will come in
handy for making catalogs, banners, and flyers.
Image cropping
In image cropping, the
product is cropped from the photo while the remaining parts are negated. Image
cropping is performed carefully to avoid compromising the photo's quality.
Photos can be re-sized re-scaled, or cropped according to the customer's
specifications. Most graphic designers use Adobe Photoshop to perform image
cropping since the software comes with complete image manipulation tools and
allows adding special effects to photos.
